You may not know that, in addition to my vocal teaching, I am a Restorative Yoga teacher for the City of Fort Collins, I belong to the Art group at the FC Sr Center and will have three pencil portraits in the November art display there, and I teach people how to make hats and fascinators! I think every chance that we have to express ourselves in an art medium simply reinforces our abilities of expression in other areas.
The attached photo shows a piece of buckram soaking in hot water before being stretched and pinned to a head, like those already completed, behind it. On October 26, I taught a 9-5 Fascinator Workshop to members of the Fort Collins Chapter of The American Sewing Guild and other interested parties at The Sewing Circle. (Because the buckram requires a fair amount of drying time, I always set the heads up before meeting with the students.) I am always astounded by the clever ideas people have for these small hats! As in other areas, the teacher learns from the student!
