Hypoxemia!

Singers certainly need a lot of oxygen, just as athletes do. We use our entire bodies, and, as a consequence, being short of O2 is definitely on the "NOT HELPFUL" list! I recently had a sleep study done, and the result is that I need 2 liters of O2 added to my BiPAP machine at night. No wonder I've been so fatigued! 2-5 hour naps every day really eats into productive, or even leisure time! I'm currently convinced that it is a result of the COVID that I had last October. I will know more come the middle of the month when I see my pulmonologist again. At least I understand why singing normal long lines has become harder for me!

One of my favorite comedians, Bob Newhart, passed away in July at not-quite 95 years of age (1929-2024). We had his comedy record albums the 60's (ex. The Buttoned Down Mind of Bob Newhart) and he was in multiple TV series (ex. Newhart, Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon) and movies like Elf and the animated film The Rescuers. He was Judson in all of The Librarian movies and the follow-up TV series The Librarians. Whay joy he gave the world! He will be missed.

Over my many years as a professional performer, the thing that I enjoyed most was making people laugh! Playing Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense was a prime example. And I can tell you that the joy given to the audience is equally received by the performer.

Smile on, be happy, and Cheers, Nance
